Abstract

The activity of the tour guide is considered one of the most important activities related to the tourism sector. As it is the key to enjoying the touristic destination by the tourist, so the tour guide leads, guides and explains to the tourist. and if he has the experience needed , he can contribute to improve the image of the host country through the contact and experience that he pass it to the tourists. This activity requires attention and strict criteria for the selection of its members. The purpose of this study is to highlight the importance of the tour guide in the tourism process, and the work he is doing in order to make it successful, in addition to it is addressing the legal controls that govern this activity in Algeria from all its aspects This study shows that the tour guide in Algeria is local or national guide with specifics duties, and the practice of this activity require the obtaining of the accreditation according to specific conditions and strict criteria, with the need to comply with some of the controls that govern this activity.
