The role of modern monetary policy in targeting inflation in Algeria is a standard (study for the period (2001-2017

Abstract
Despite the success of modern monetary policy based on the adoption of inflation targeting
strategy in the achievement of low inflation rates during the last decade in many countries, and the
increasing demand for this policy on a continuous basis, but there is some doubts that it can be applied
effectively in Algeria under the Regulatory and structural monetary conditions that coincided with the
beginning of the implementation of the three development programs in the period from 2001 to 2017, in
order to achieve the ultimate goal of controlling the overall level of prices. The study, using the ARDL
method, found that the lack of conditions for applying this policy in the Algerian economy prevented the
desired results from being achieved. However, this method can be used to manage future monetary policy.
In a phased manner, preceded by overcoming difficulties in their implementation.
